Dopetracks is an online recording studio where bedroom emcees and budding producers meet and collaborate.

If you're a vocalist you just pick a beat, plug in a mic and that's it. I tried it last night but the site seemed down or something.
Could be blowing up. But it's done well.

May 15th - 22nd marks the 8th Annual Hip Hop Appreciation Week. Our theme this year is Freedom. Different from Liberty which has to do with moving freely about one’s environment, freedom is a condition that is experienced within one’s self. You must Feel free in order to actually Be free. Are you free? Or are you waiting to be freed? Most people have been freed; they are not free. Most people are waiting for some thing or some one outside of themselves to give meaning and/or movement to their lives. Are you free? Do you think for yourself? Or does outside opinions and conditions constantly making up your mind for you?

This year’s Hip Hop Appreciation Week May 15th - 22nd 2005 will be a time set aside for all true Hiphoppas to meditate upon the question of freedom. Are we really free? What does it take to be free? What does freedom mean to us? Is freedom even important to us? Even beyond the concept of freedom for political or social point of view, spiritual point of view rooted in the universal desire to be unrestrained and fully developed.

In addition, as a (Hiphop) community let us come up with clever ways to actually free each other from the bondage that we face everyday. Let us find ways to relieve one another and free one another from mundane routines of life. Let us free each other from debt through charity. Let us free each other from guilt through forgiveness. Volunteer your time to a parent that can really use a break from kids. Let us free each other up! Only those that think and feel free can even attempt to free someone else. How can you aid in someone else’s freedom if you are not free yourself?

These questions point to the essence of one’s character. Regardless of how much money you many have, or how popular and/or successful you many be; are you truly free? How dependent is your sense of well-being upon external things? How free are you really? During Hip Hop Appreciation Week May 15th-22nd let us create events and discussions around the concept of freedom. Any Hiphoppa with exceptional organizing skills and a love for Hiphop can promote Hip Hop Appreciation Week within his/her city. But most of all; let us evaluate our own levels of personal freedom and seek ways to relieve the bondage of others. God has already blessed us. I’ll see you at the Temple.

Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard passed away today (November 13).

While details are sketchy, sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper collapsed and died in a Manhattan recording studio.

Ol' Dirty had complained of chest pains, but the cause of death was not immediatley known.

The nine members of the veteran rap group appeared at The Theater at the Continental Airlines Arena for their first joint East Coast appearance in five years, in which Ol' Dirty took part.

One of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the 35-year-old helped lay down the foundation for some of the most influential Hip-Hop in history.

He brought an air of humor to the macho world of rap, yet maintained enough integrity to be taken serious amongst a fickle Hip-Hop audience.

The Brooklyn born rapper was featured on Wu-Tang’s groundbreaking album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

Shortly afterwards, he was shot in the stomach by another rapper during an argument on the street in Brooklyn.

He recovered and released the classic Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version, which spawned the hit singles "Brooklyn Zoo" and "Shimmy Shimmy Ya," which powered the album to gold status.

In 1998 the rapper further solidified his place in Hip-Hop history. That year, he rushed out of a recording studio to help save the life of a four-year-old girl who had been hit by a car and was trapped underneath.

The next day he appeared at the Grammy Awards and rushed the stage during Shawn Colvin’s acceptance speech for her Grammy Award winning song “Sunny.”

Dressed in a red suit, the rapper told the crowd that Wu-Tang shouldn’t have lost their Grammy to Sean “P. Diddy” Combs and then uttered the now famous words: “Wu-Tang is for the children.”

In 1998 he was shot again in Brownsville, Brooklyn, after two robbers pushed their way into his girlfriend's apartment. The bandits stole money and jewelry and shot ODB once. The bullet entered his back and went through his body, all superficial wounds.

After being treated in a New York emergency room, he ignored doctor’s warnings and left the hospital.

He was arrested several more times the following year for various charges, including threatening bouncers at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and for lounging on his balcony in the nude in Berlin, Germany. No charges were filed in that case.

Later that year, he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, after police claimed he jumped out of his car and started shooting at them. Those charges were dismissed when the police failed to present credible evidence.

In October of 2000, the rapper was almost finished a stint in rehab when he made a run for it, spending a month as a fugitive, during which time he performed at the Hammerstein Ballroom in front of hundreds of stunned fans.

He left the premise that evening but was captured a short time later in Philadelphia, singing autographs in a McDonald's parking lot.

He was extradited to New York, where he stood trial. In April of 2001, he received a sentence of two to four years in state prison.

After emerging triumphantly from jail and rehab, the rapper inked a deal with Roc-A-Fella Records in May of 2003.

I'm happy to be here,” Ol' Dirty said at the press conference. “I thought I wasn't gonna be able to touch another microphone. I'm happy my eyes are still open."

The rapper also had launched his own clothing line, Dirty Wear.

The news comes as Hip-Hop community was mourning the passing of another rapper, Mac Dre, who was shot to death in Kansas City.

Music is a powerful voice for change. I started reading the Declaration of Independence to get Ideas for a direction for Hip Hop music. I was fascinated to find out that what happened in 1776 with a tyrant king is almost Identical to what is happening now in our current government. People were oppressed back than and they are oppressed now. We call this a democracy, but we know it is a hierocracy. I'm not into politics. I am just disgusted by the abuse.

Hip Hop music can and will evolve to change the current state of abuse in the United States and the world. Lets stop the abuse and fight the so called leaders with their own words. We the Hip hop nation are more powerful than all the bankers in the world. We have beats and they don't. We have a valuable commodity called love, peace and understanding. Let's share the knowledge and share the love until one day Rappers run the congress and Djs control the house and the music is our commander in chief.

Usurpations

Usurpation is the exercise of powers by an agent which have not been delegated to him by the principal. In a constitutional republic like the United States of America, acts by officials are legitimate only if they are consistent with and based on a constitution, a body of laws which are superior to all subsequent statutes and other acts of officials, which embodies all delegations of power, and which may recognize certain rights to further define the limits on the powers delegated. It is a fundamental principle that all acts of officials not derived from the delegated powers of the constitution are null and void from inception, not just from the point at which a court may find them unconstitutional. Every person who has an encounter with the acts of officials has the duty not only to obey legitimate official acts, but to help enforce them, but, when there is a conflict among acts of officials, to enforce the superior one, which, when an act of an official is in conflict with the constitution, means enforcing the constitution and not the act in conflict with it. Judges and other citizens do not decide constitutionality, but discover it, and every person who is involved with any act by an official has a nondelegatable duty to make a determination of the constitutionality of that act. This determination is called constitutional review, and, when exercised by a judge in a case, judicial review.
Since the ratification of the Constitution for the United States and each of its properly ratified amendments, there have been numerous acts by officials, including statutes, regulations, executive orders, court rulings, and ordinary decisions and actions taken while on duty and under color of law, which have been unconstitutional, and in many cases, in violation of civil rights of persons and of constitutional laws. We will try to identify some of the worst of such violations of the Constitution, and discuss how compliance with the Constitution can be restored.

Abuse in general

Besides usurpations, there is a larger class of abuses which include corruption and violations of constitutional statutes. It becomes a matter of special concern to citizens when officials conspire with one another to not enforce the law against such corruption, and use the resources of government and the powers of their offices to cover up such crimes or otherwise protect the perpetrators, whether such crimes are committed by officials themselves or by powerful persons who are allowed to become a privileged class that is above the law. When officials fail to enforce the law, citizens must step in and take action to see that the laws are enforced, and replace those officials with others who will do their constitutional duty.

So this past Saturday, my girl StephRock was promotin'
a low-key event for Numark (J-5's DJ). I guess he's
releasing a solo joint, and this was the album release
shin-dig.

We're on the list and we get in free. I'm takin' in all
of the spin skills that Nu-Mark is flossin', then all of a
sudden Chali 2na gets on the MIC. Ill session. The venue
was small enough to be able to tell Nu-Mark I was feelin' it, and get a hug without gettin' checked by bodyguards. Then as
the night is over, I see Chali 2na in the parking lot, and I get to tell him how J-5 is a refreshing change of pace to today's hip-hop scene, and I get another hug. Damn, that night could not have gotten any better...oh and a free drink from Ugly Duckling's own Dizzy Dustin...I was in heaven!
